The Fulbright U.S. Scholar program to Sub-Saharan Africa offers opportunities for scholars in a wide variety of academic disciplines to teach and/or conduct research. Beyond their specific research or teaching objectives, Fulbright Scholars to the region build lasting relationships that serve as the foundation for future collaborations through activities such as developing affiliations between institutions in the United States and Africa, or assisting in training and curriculum development. Applications are now being accepted for awards during academic year 2018-19.

Highlighted awards are below. We encourage you to review the complete 2018-2019 Catalog of Awards for descriptions of all opportunities.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The deadline for complete applications is August 1, 2017. Please contact us at SubSaharanAfrica@iie.org with any questions.
